TORRINGTON – Thespian Troupe 757 performed a showcase of their drama repertoire at Torrington’s High School Theatre on Friday, Dec. 18. The performance included a variety of monologues, songs, choreographed dance and group pieces.
Performers from Torrington High School, Southeast High School and Lingle-Fort Laramie (L-FL) High School presented their acts before a live audience in the theatre. The students were recorded during the event and the recordings will be adjudicated on the basis of their performance.
L-FL Musical Director Erin Jespersen told The Guide students will be placed by their individual performances, but they will not be competing as a group, as they have in past years.
“This was the best performance for most of the kids,” Jespersen said. “Having an audience makes a huge difference, and the students were super excited to put on the show and be able to do a performance.”
Jespersen also informed The Guide that Eli Asa, a student from L-FL had been added to the All-State Choir list as a performer. Asa was previously scored too low for acceptance onto the list, but Jespersen felt this was incorrect. After disputing the result, Asa’s score increased by more than 10 points, putting him on the All-State Choir list.
Jespersen said she believed numbers had ben transposed after the judging and a mistake was made after the final information was released. Despite the mistake, the error was corrected, and Asa will serve on the All-State Choir.
