TORRINGTON – The city of Torrington will temporarily close portions of West C Street north and south of West Valley Road (U.S. Hwy. 26/85) beginning Oct. 9 for a water line replacement project.
Traffic on West Valley Road will not be affected, it was announced Friday. The project will involve underground installation of an upgraded, eight-inch water main. Crews will drill under the highway and nearby railroad tracks to install the pipe without having to demolish
Detour routes around the construction area will be marked. The construction area is expected to take up about the first block north and south of the highway.
For traffic, northbound from Valley Road, motorists are requested to detour to West D Street. Traffic bound for the southbound portion of West C Street should plan to divert to South Main Street/Highway 85, then return west.
West Valley Road will remain open for the duration of the project. The work is expected to take approximately four weeks.
