Local AAUW branch receives award

TORRINGTON – The American Association of University Women Torrington/Wheatland branch was the recipient of the Increased Membership Award 2018-2019 at the recent AAUW Wyoming State Convention in Casper, Wyo. AAUW Casper and AAUW State of Wyoming co-president RC Johnson presented the award to Torrington/Wheatland co-presidents Madelon Daniels and Janet Bass at their May meeting.

At the meeting Johnson reported on the spring convention that included the on-going issue of equal pay for equal work and the Pink Tax. Women pay more than men for the same products, such as razors, shampoo, and even dry cleaning, Johnson said.

She also urged members to take advantage of the free AAUW on-line salary negotiation course that can be found at salary.aauw.org This online course will provide the tools women need to successfully negotiate and close the pay gap for women everywhere.
