Lingle election results announced

Unverzagt elected new mayor
LINGLE – Elections for Lingle Mayor and town council position took place on Tuesday, May 10.
Al Unverzagt, the lone candidate for mayor, was elected with 54 votes.
Katherine Wilhelm received the most votes among the three candidates with 53 for the council member position.
Micah Foster received 44 votes while Chris Anderson received 27.
The newly elected officials will be sworn in during the council’s meeting on June 8.
A recent ordinance passed by the town council amended the mayor’s term from two years to four years in accordance with state statute.
The ordinance also amended when those elected are to be sworn in. The council changed the language to read on the first meeting of June which was done traditionally rather than on the first day of June as stated in the policy.
