Dogger wrestling ninth at Southeast Duals


YODER – After an 0-2 start to the day with losses to Wheatland and Mitchell, Neb., the Lingle-Fort Laramie High School wrestling team ended Saturday with three straight dual wins to capture ninth in a 16-team tournament.

In the opening round, the Doggers fell to Wheatland, 42-36.

L-FL’s Remington Bremer (113 pounds) and Jaden Houk (120) picked up the teams only bout wins of the dual. The other 24 points were courtesy of open weights by the Bulldogs.

In the second round, the Doggers fell to the Mitchell Tigers, 54-23.

Joel Costello (106) earned a technical fall win, while Bremer and Houk scored fall victories for the Doggers.

In the third round of the bracket competition, the L-FL blanked North Park (Colo.), 72-0.

Every match of the dual was a forfeit win for the Doggers.

With a 1-2 record, L-FL fell to the consolation bracket for the afternoon matches and was paired up against cross-county rival Southeast in the first round.

The teams battled to a 36-36 tie with the Doggers picking up the tie-breaker, which went to the team with the fewest forfeits.

Either team was open at 170 and 182 pounds, but it was Carson who scored the first points of the dual with a pin over L-FL’s Landon Norris.

The teams traded wins for the remainder of the match.

Will Baker (285), Brock Blevins (113), Kaden Brothwell (120), Wyatt Mackey (132) and Ryan Clapper (145) scored wins for Southeast, while Jessy Valentine (220 pounds), Costello (106), Ty Prall (126), Gage Gibson (138), Corey Ducheneaux (152) and Zane Rising (160) picked up wins for the Doggers.

Southeast had three forfeits to L-FL’s zero, resulting a win for the Doggers.

The win advanced L-FL to the ninth-place bout where they squared off against another rival – Niobrara County.

The Doggers capped off the day with a 54-29 win over the Tigers.

Rising, Valentine, Houk, Prall, Hadley Fleming (132) picked up victories by pin.

L-FL travels to the Hanna-Elk Mountain Tournament Friday and Saturday to wrap up the regular season.
